Disposable plastic products like water bottles and tableware accumulate over time, which create plastic pollution that upsets the natural environment and harm the ecosystem, and the pollution severely affects Hong Kong. There are a total of 176 tonnes of plastic waste thrown into our oceans in Hong Kong every year. Therefore, we should lessen unnecessary plastic waste every day instead of just saying ‘no’ to plastic on ‘No Single Use Plastic Awareness Day’.
You can save $1 for each transaction when you visit any of our branches to buy takeaway food or beverages with your own food container or cup. Workaholics will definitely be energised by this!
Water dispensers or big glass water bottles are available in all our shops. You may bring your own bottle (BYOB) to refill your water bottle for free, and reduce plastic waste at the same time. We also welcome you to visit our shops for water refill at anytime!
In order to encourage public to use less plastic bags when they shop, we have launched a project called ‘Eco-Bag-Relay’ which we have set up recycling stations of reusable bags in our every shop, hoping that public may feel free to donate or take recycled shopping bags. Plastic bags take hundreds years to break down after disposal, so we hope to reduce plastic bag use and lessen burden on landfills through this project. It is a win-win-win situation for donors, recipients and the shop.
We also offer biodegradable cutlery and eco-friendly straws to encourage the public to cultivate the good habit of using tableware made of greener materials to replace disposable plastic tableware, so as to adopt a green lifestyle.
To encourage more people to take part in separation of domestic waste for recycling and reduce burden on landfills, we have provided plastic bottles recycling bins in our shops (except Tuen Mun). You can simply empty the bottle after drinking, tighten the cap, and put it into the recycling bins.
Reducing waste at source is still an important part for a plastic-free lifestyle. We hope the public may cultivate good living habits and recycle for a better tomorrow!
